Brock
Woerner
- Drums
& Percussion
Brock
approaches the drums melodically, commenting on what each soloist is
stating and adding to the group creation. He plays with his ears
wide-open allowing each player to interact and place their mark on
tunes. "You can choose to stay in one spot or move ahead on your own."
Woerner
began playing the drums at age 5 and started performing at 18. His
musical training was through private study and the school of hard
knocks. " Best place to learn is on stage, there is no other
experience like it."
While
he makes a living playing Jazz- over the years he has played
everything from Rock, Blues, Reggae, Ska, Funk to R&B... His
listening tastes are equally wide. You can find him listening to
virtually any style of music- and learning from it.
Brock
has taught nearly 200 students and in January 2002 opened his school, The
Lancaster Musical Education Center
in the center of historic Lancaster City. "I am fortunate to
make a living playing music. And being able to pass that knowledge on
to others is one of the many rewards of being who I am."
A
musician who is always a student is how Brock sums up what he does,
" Life is a learning experience, so I will always remain a
student to the instrument, the music I play and to all I hold dear to
me. It is my soul and my spirit that people hear when I play."
"They
said that James Brown was the hardest working man in show business.
To me Brock is one of the hardest working drummers out here today.
Not only is he extremely versatile and working hard to reach higher
levels of drumming, he works hard at taking care of the business of
music. I'm proud to have had Brock as one of my students."
